Editorial illustration for a Times Op/Ed piece. Seemingly progressive Supreme Court often create justice where no other power can; however, because they don't go the normal channels of legislation approval, decisions like Brown v. Board of Education or Roe vs. Wade rest on unstable legal ground and are in constant danger of overturning.

solution

The illustration uses simple visual metaphors: an unstable, slanted surface; a shaky foundation; and the precious contents tipping over and fading away.
