Identity for an English language magazine about Japanese rock music. J-rock, as we call it, is an underground yet growing scene. Remix Design had the opportunity (and burden) of taking the brand from the groud up: from logo and identity to editorial concept and execution.
solution
The strongly horizontal block creates just that, a horizon. The indent of the type creates airy space, which reinforces the sky concept. Splitting the type onto two lines adds bouncy upwardness. Spacing out the word "SKY" adds more cloud-like open space, but on just one word creates contrast and helps readability.
